The Chinese have a saying: “May you live in interesting times.” With signs of environmental collapse, animal extinction, and climate chaos, these times are indeed interesting, as the Earth, our Home, is in a precarious state.
Question—can we repair the damage and reduce our Impact while providing for our needs? Can we build a better future for the coming generations?
Yes, we can, by using the infrastructure we already have in place: Natural, Social and Artificial.
RetroSuburbia, a manual by Permaculture co-originator David Holmgren, focuses on transforming households and ourselves for the coming times. Drawing on decades of experience, it provides solutions and suggestions for using and improving existing infrastructure to build a more resilient society.
The Benalla Permaculture Book Club will explore the concepts and strategies in the book and discuss options and actions we can take in these times. Collectively, we will share ideas, successes, and failures, so we can all learn.
No prior knowledge is required, and everyone is welcome. You will need a copy of the book, a limited number of copies are available through the facilitator (Woz), or there may be some copies available to borrow from the library, or, there is also an online version of the book.
This is a free event. You will be provided with a workbook, so we do ask for a contribution towards expenses.
The Book Club runs over 10 two-hour sessions, starting Sat, 17th May @ 10 am, through to September 6.
So come and join us for a transformative journey towards a sustainable future. Places are limited, so bookings are necessary.
